Sponsoring an Oneg or Kiddush is a Mitzvah for your fellow congregants or is a way to honor a loved one for a birthday, anniversary or Yahrzeit.  An Oneg or Kiddush means supplying a Nosh for Friday night or a light lunch for Saturday morning.
