Sunshine Meals

Sunshine Meals is a Bnai Israel program which delivers a kosher meal to congregants who have recently come home from the hospital or rehab facility, are recovering from acute illness or celebrating the birth of a baby.

What’s new?

We have expanded the Sunshine Meals program!

Congregants who are chronically ill or who live alone and have little chance to get out are being offered monthly visits with a meal, snack or simply a chance to visit with one of us. Special Pesach gift baskets were delivered to some of these congregants just recently. We’ll also be making special holiday visits during Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah.

Please consider volunteering to visit these special congregants as part of our “Sunshine Team.” A brief training session, offered by Rabbi Julie, is required prior to the start of visits. Any meals or snacks will be provided by Sunshine Meals and a monthly commitment is not required. Contact Michelle Bannon to help make a difference in our community. You’ll be surprised at how good that can feel.

Do you need a Sunshine Meal? Do you know a fellow congregant who might appreciate visits from our team?

Requests can be made, by calling the synagogue office, or by contacting me at or 706-832-3048.  Participation is voluntary and the privacy of our congregants is of the utmost importance.

We need volunteers to help prepare and deliver meals.

Email Michelle Bannon at ( to sign up to cook or to sign up for delivering meals. You can also reach her at 706-832-3048.

Donations to help cover costs are appreciated and may be made on ShulCloud or by check to Bnai Israel with Sunshine Meals noted on the memo line.
