As the month of Adar approaches, our tradition reminds us that “When Adar begins, our joy increases.” Nowhere is this spirit of joy more evident than in the celebration of Purim. This festive holiday offers us a chance to come together, not only to commemorate the resilience of our ancestors but also to strengthen the bonds within our own synagogue community.

Purim reminds us that even in challenging times, unity, joy, and acts of kindness can light the way. It’s a time to reflect on the mitzvot that connect us deeply to one another: • Giving mishloach manot, gifts of food that promote friendship and goodwill. • Providing gifts to those in need, reminding us of our obligation to care for all members of our wider community. • Gathering for a joyful feast, where laughter and celebration bring our families and friends together.

This year, our synagogue is planning a vibrant Purim season filled with opportunities to celebrate, learn, and give back. Highlights include:

• A Family-Friendly Megillah Reading to remember the courage of Esther and Mordechai. Join us along with the Temple of Israel as we bring the story of Esther to life! Costumes are encouraged. We will start early to accommodate our kids.

• Our Purim Carnival will be a fun-filled day for both Bnai Israel and Temple of Israel.

• Mishloach Manot bags of Hamantaschen and other of treats to give to members of our congregation. Our famous homemade Hamantaschen will also be available for purchase.

I warmly encourage you to attend these events and to participate in any way you can—whether by joining us in person, volunteering your time, or spreading the word to friends and family. Together, we can ensure that Purim is not only a celebration but also a meaningful expression of the values we hold dear.

The story of Purim is ultimately one of resilience and connection—a reminder that, even amidst uncertainty, we are stronger when we stand together. Let us carry this message into our lives and our community as we build a synagogue where everyone feels embraced and empowered.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Chag Purim Sameach—a joyful Purim filled with connection, laughter, and love.
